Valpolicella Superiore “Ripassa” is the interpretation of this great red wine of the territory, created by the famous Veronese winery Zenato. It is a young wine, born in the wake of the extraordinary international success of Amarone, which has pushed the producers of the territory to invent a new label that could in part come close to that type of taste experience. The practice of repassing the wine on the Amarone marc, gives structure, softness and aromatic richness , giving a harmonious and persuasive sip, in line with the international face of the Valpolicella area.
“Ripassa” is the Valpolicella Superiore by Zenato, the fruit of a winery that has been cultivating vines and producing wines in Valpolicella and the Lugana denomination area since 1960. Today the property extends over almost one hundred hectares, divided into different farms, located in Sant'Ambrogio della Valpolicella, where red grape varieties are grown, and Sirmione and Peschiera del Garda, land of white grape varieties. The wines faithfully reflect the character of the territory, with a classic and traditional profile. The wine is based on a selection of Corvina, Rondinella and Oseleta grapes of excellent quality, coming from different parcels of the company's vineyards. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with maceration on the skins for a dozen days. The wine is aged in steel until January, when it is passed over the Amarone marc for a second fermentation that lasts about a week. The wine then ages for 18 months in oak tonneaux and is aged for 6 months in the bottle.
The red Valpolicella Superiore “Ripassa” by Zenato is dedicated to those who prefer softness, smooth and silky tannins, the persuasive and smooth character . Concentrated and full-bodied, but without the density of Amarone, it is perfect to taste with roasted or grilled meats or small game on the spit. It has a beautiful dark and bright ruby red color. The olfactory profile is very rich, with aromas of blackcurrant jam, wild blackberry, red-fleshed plum, hints of undergrowth, soft oriental spices, tobacco and bitter cocoa. Wide and enveloping, it has a warm and fruity sip, which recalls above all ripe red-fleshed fruit. The finish is harmonious and persistent, with a closing on spicy and balsamic sensations.
