Contadi Castaldi's Brut Franciacorta is a vibrant expression of the union between Chardonnay and one of the most suitable Italian territories for the production of Italian sparkling wines. Smoothness and drinkability are the key words to identify the production style adopted, without renouncing complexity and longevity. The more than secular origins of the wine history of the place are reflected in the choice of the name of the cellar, in fact with the word "contadi" we refer to the counties of Franciacorta, while with that "Castaldi" we mean the owners of the latter. Although the birth of the winery, founded in Adro in 1991, is much more recent, the name of the Moretti family is one of those who made the history of Franciacorta, being the founder of one of the most famous Italian wineries in the world, namely Bellavista.
The Contadi Castaldi Brut comes from a blend made up mostly of Chardonnay, with small balances of Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, while for the refinement steel containers are used in part and barrels. Subsequently the sparkling wine ages on the lees for 20-26 months , and it is this last stop that enriches the wine giving it depth and thickness.
The Contadi Castaldi Brut Franciacorta is revealed in the glass with a bright straw yellow, denoting a perlage of exemplary finesse. Perky nose, varies from floral hints of linden and jasmine to more fleshy ones of peach and citrus. The sip, crunchy and slender, is striking for its extreme freshness and drinkability , but is enriched by a well-integrated base creaminess. Extremely versatile liquid, it accompanies aperitifs and delicate fish-based dishes, creating interesting combinations also with preparations such as soups and risottos.
