The Lugana Riserva "Sergio Zenato" is an important white, which also thanks to the aging in wood, acquires that structure and complexity, which make it one of the most prestigious bottles of the Denomination. The label is dedicated to Sergio Zenato, who was the first, in the early 1990s, to understand the potential of the pure Trebbiano di Lugana vine to make great white wines, also intended for aging. The grapes come from the historic vineyards of the Zenato winery, with vines over 50 years old, which give a few bunches of high aromatic intensity , perfect for making a white intended to represent the qualitative peak of production, so much so that it is only marketed in the best years.
The grapes of the Lugana Riserva "Sergio Zenato" come only and exclusively from the old vines of Podere Massoni , the historic vineyard of the winery, which is located near Peschiera del Garda. The splendid southern exposure, the fine clay soils and the low yields per hectare guarantee the ripening of bunches of great richness and concentration. The harvest is slightly late, around mid-October, with careful selection of only the best bunches in the vineyard. The soft pressing is followed by fermentation, which takes place for about 70% in 50 hl oak barrels and for 30% in stainless steel at a controlled temperature. The Lugana Riserva "Sergio Zenato" ages for a period of about 6 months in new barrels and tonneaux and completes the long aging with 12 months in the bottle.
Zenato's Riserva Lugana is the maximum expression of the Trebbiano di Lugana vine in the sign of richness and complexity. A label suitable for those who love structured and deep whites. The color is light yellow with brilliant reflections. The olfactory picture is particularly seductive in terms of intensity and facet, with aromas of white flowers, notes of citrus peel, yellow fruit and tropical nuances. On the palate it is broad, with mature and articulated aromatic richness , which closes on fresh and sapid notes. It is an important bottle, to be brought to the table to accompany savory first courses, baked fish or delicate white meats.
