Zenato's Valpolicella Classico Superiore represents a typical and tasty interpretation of this popular denomination of the province of Verona. This extensive Venetian production reality, founded in 1960 by Sergio Zenato, today has almost 100 hectares of vineyards distributed between the Tenuta Santa Cristina in Peschiera and the Tenuta Costalunga in Valpolicella, from which the Zenato family obtains a large production characterized by very high quality levels.
Zenato Valpolicella Classico Superiore is a blend of Corvina Veronese (85%), Rondinella (10%) and Corvinone (5%), varieties grown on the Valpolicella hills with south-east and south-west exposure, between 250 and 300 metres above sea level. The soils, mainly belonging to the Cretaceous geological period, are characterised by an abundant presence of limestone and skeleton. Following manual harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and pressed, with the subsequent alcoholic fermentation taking place in stainless steel tanks associated with 7-10 days of maceration on the skins. Once the fermentation process is complete, the mass is transferred to Slavonian oak tonneau for maturation for approximately one year prior to bottling.
The Valpolicella Classico Superiore from the Zenato winery has a deep ruby red hue with faint garnet reflections. The nose reveals hints of black cherry jam, berries and morello cherry, combined with slightly herbaceous perceptions, pleasant menthol hints and notes of sweet spices. Elegant and soft taste, with good structure and balanced fresh-savoury component . The velvety and refined tannic texture guides the consistent finish in the fruity and balsamic sensations.
